Bookham Harrison Farms was born in 2007 built on the result of a strong relationship between the Harrisons and the Bookhams. Since then, this cheese-making alliance has grown extensively, supplying cheese right across the UK and beyond and reaping such rewards as Sussex Food Producer of the Year in 2018 and their Milk Churn Coffee shop was crowned South East Local Food and Drink Champion in The Countryside Alliance Awards 2023.
A highlight of their produce includes their infamous ‘Sussex Charmer’, a unique mature cheddar that is the marriage of two very separate cheese production methods, combining the creaminess of a mature farmhouse cheddar with the zing of a Italian Style Hard Cheese. This cheddar is a chef’s best friend and prolific winner. In 2008, it won Best New Dairy Product at the largest cheese awards in the world, hosted in Nantwich, Cheshire. It has since picked up a further seven gold medals, claiming Best Catering Cheese in Show in 2014. In 2017, it was awarded Best British Cheddar at the prestigious Quality Food Awards.
Another signature Sussex product is their ‘South Downs Butter’ available in salted and unsalted; also an award winning product for Bookham Harrison Farms. Traditionally churned and packed by hand into easy to slice, delicious rolls, their slightly salted butter is a A Great Taste Award winner for seven years in a row, achieving the GOLD great taste award in 2014.
