Borde Hill Gardens in Haywards Heath

Borde Hill is listed by English Heritage as being of Grade II* historic importance and set within 383 acres of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the High Weald, and is of national botanical importance , featuring one of the largest collections of privately owned champion trees in the UK, with over 95 specimens. To champion their beautiful West Sussex landscape, Borde Hill’s shop and café are proud to showcase a wide range of Sussex food, drink and produce.

The Borde Hill shop and nursery, located at the Garden entrance, is filled with perfect gifts for all the family. They sell homeware, bags and scarves created by local artisans, bespoke items made exclusively for Borde Hill and a delicious range of Sussex food and drink. Their nursery sells a wide selection of plants, including Borde Hill Homegrown – propagated in Sussex from some of the beautiful varieties you can see blooming in the main Garden, so you can recreate a piece of Borde Hill at home. Also, every purchase made in the shop and plant nursery helps to support the Garden’s charitable aims and horticultural projects, so you can give back to the Sussex landscape we all love. As for eating, led by Green Michelin-starred chef Chantelle Nicholson, The Cordia Collective brings a fresh nature-led approach to food at Borde Hill. Rooted in sustainability, this evolving project includes Baked by Cordia, a newly opened micro-bakery crafting handmade pastries and bakes for Ginkgo, their sunshine-hued coffee shop inside the Garden’s visitor entrance building, and Gloriette, their outdoor summerhouse café in the Garden. The Cordia Collective champions consciously grown wheat from Bruern Farm and Stoates Farm, High Weald Dairy’s cheese, and fresh fruit and vegetables from Shrub Provisions. Visitors can expect locally sourced, seasonal food that celebrates Borde Hill’s rich biodiversity and plant heritage. In early spring 2026, The Cordia Collective will expand into a new glasshouse restaurant, café wine bar, and workshop space set within their Victorian Stables, featuring a beautifully restored walled kitchen garden, with produce from the estate’s biodynamic Market Garden.
