Trenchmore Farm is a family business believing in good food, grown well, which reflects in the great quality of their deliciously sustainable Sussex beef, apples, grain & poultry. The reason for them winning the Sustainable Food Made Good Supplier of the Year Award 2016 and Sussex Food and Drink Awards Farmer of the Year 2017.
Their low input beef is reared from slow grown and grass fed Sussex crossed Wagyu cattle, kept happy and healthy. Their diet is based on grass and herbal ley silage and includes by-products of human food production; brewers grains that are high in protein from their Sussex local craft brewers, linseed cake from oil pressing that helps to boost omega-3, molasses to provide a sustainable source of energy and trace minerals needed for healthy animals and straw from their wheat harvest to provide fibre and improve rumen function. And of course, the apple pomace from their cider production each autumn. Reflecting in a lovely tasting range of beef products.
Another highlight is Trenchmore’s Silly Moo cider; a marriage of East coast and West country cider styles to create their delicious farmhouse cider. Trenchmore’s traditional orchard has over nineteen varieties of cider apple trees, bittersweet, sharp and bittersharp apples, which were planted in 2012. Blending these apples with other apples sourced from around Sussex creates the iconic ‘Silly Moo’ signature flavour.
