Fifty Mid Sussex food and drink businesses came together at Roost, Goddenwick Farm, in Lindfield to enhance their marketing skills and support local Sussex producers.
With support from Mid Sussex District Council, community interest company Natural Partnerships launched the Sussex Six campaign in the district in April 2025 and has created a Mid Sussex directory to help local businesses, residents and visitors find great locally-produced food and drink.
“Twenty-one high quality pubs, restaurants, cafés and caterers have now joined the Sussex Six Campaign in Mid Sussex, pledging to serve and sell more local produce, and we encourage people to support these businesses, and urge more businesses to join up,” said Hilary Knight, co-director of Natural Partnerships CIC.
The latest to make the pledge are the multiple AA rosette-winning Alexander House Hotel and Utopia Spa, and their AG’s restaurant in Turners Hill. Others who have made the pledge include Borde Hill Gardens shop, Bolney Wine Estate’s Eighteen Acre Café, Butterbox Farm, Handcross Butchers, Missing Link Taproom, Ridgeview Wine Estate, Rushfields Farm Shop, Safari Pizza, South Downs Cellars, The Brickworks Taproom, The Cat, The Cider Tap, The Curry Squad, The Garden Chef, The Shepherd and Dog, The Sussex Grocer, Village Pizza Kitchen and Woodhouse Butchers.
At the event on 26 January, Dee Blick, bestselling author of award winning marketing books including The 15 Essential Marketing Masterclasses for your Small Business, and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, with 40 years’ experience, shared her top tips and experience.
Across Sussex, over 150 shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes have made the Sussex Six pledge to take on at least six more Sussex food and drink products in the coming year, to boost local business, support the local community and reduce food miles.
