Farmers Michael and Philippa Vine have invited local people to their first birthday open day on November 8 between 11am-2pm at the Bluebell Farm Shop at Bates Green Farm in Arlington, with free home-cooked food on offer and live music and entertainment.
Visitors can have rare access to the famous Arlington Bluebell Wood, normally only open during the bluebell season, to see it in autumnal shades and Bluebell Adventures is offering free woodland fun and games for children.
Said Philippa Vine, “We have had a fantastic first year at the shop with more and more local people coming to buy our own slow grown Sussex Beef, Southdown Lamb and poultry, as well as a range of delicious sausages, pies, tarts, casseroles and cakes, which I cook myself.
“Our home-cooked food range has become very popular and people can order their treats as well as our meat boxes in advance and then pick them up for the weekend when we are open on Friday and Saturday.”
On the open day, Michael will be taking orders for his Christmas turkeys, which have been reared from day old chicks at Bates Green Farm, where they are slow grown with no hormones or additives and then hand plucked and dry-hung for at least a week to develop a superior flavour and texture.
The open day runs from 11am-2pm on November 8 and the Farm Shop remains open until 5pm.
