Sussex Farmers Celebrate Farmhouse Breakfast Week

Sussex farmers celebrated Farmhouse Breakfast Week in style, sponsored by Knill James accountants and Samuel & Son chartered surveyors, with a top quality Great British Breakfast kindly hosted by Spring Barn Farm Park in Lewes.

Fifty farmers from across the county enjoyed locally smoked salmon from Springs, scrambled free range eggs and bacon from Holmansbridge Farm, with butcher’s sausages from F. Richards & Sons of Lewes and home baked bread rolls, whilst discussing the hottest topics for farmers in the current economic climate.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which runs from January 22 to 28, is in its 13th year and is an annual campaign run by the HGCA, which promotes a world-class British arable industry, to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the variety of breakfast foods available in the UK.

The theme for the campaign is “Shake Up Your Wake Up”, focused on encouraging small changes to people’s morning routine to allow time for breakfast every day. The Sussex breakfast raised funds for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), which supports members of the farming community facing need, hardship or distress, through a whisky raffle and Spring Barn Farm hamper.

Both Knill James and Samuel & Son are prestigious professional service organisations which have long served the farming industry in Sussex. Find out more at www.knilljames.co.uk or www.samuelandson.co.uk.
